Samaritan Radio Network
In 1974, the young missionary couple serving in Nicaragua, Bob and Joan Tyson, were awoken in the early morning hours. Sister Joan gives this account in her book, Sleeping Spiders, Green Grapefruits and Empty Cages:
Looking out the window we saw thousands marching behind idols and chanting prayers. Some were even walking on their knees literally shedding their own blood trying to gain favor and forgiveness from idols that could neither see nor hear them. Bob cried out to God. “What can one man do to reach the multitudes living in complete darkness?” The Lord has answered Bro. Bob‘s plea in many ways through the years, raising up hundreds of national pastors and equipping them to reach the precious people of Central America. Our Christian schools, Opportunity of a Lifetime, and Feed the Hungry programs have also been raised up to shine the Light. No one could have ever imagined how effective radio would be in answering Bro. Bob’s prayer. Please take a moment to look back at what has happened at the Samaritan Radio Network. In the years 2012 through 2016 SRN received over 3,205,266 calls and correspondence, with over 100,000 of those calls being made in 2016 alone. There were 29,819 reported calls for salvation and another 15,047 for rededication. Praise God! Multitudes in complete darkness have come to the Light through the gospel being broadcasted 19 hours a day throughout Central America. These numbers equate to a listening audience of over 8 million. Unfortunately, since 2017 Samaritan Radio has suffered from rising costs of operation and some of our older equipment breaking down. At this time, three of our AM stations are off the air and our main station is reported to be in “critical condition.” This means multitudes of those who were listening to Samaritan Radio are back in complete darkness. As time marches on, many of our supporters have joined Brother Bob and Sister Joan in Heaven, yet the work is not finished. We need to continue to shine the Light through Samaritan Radio. We are praying that God will send investors to help reach Central America and bring more souls to the saving knowledge of Christ. We need more faithful supporters who can take the place of some of those who have gone on before us. As we move into 2020 our vision is to see the radio grow, especially our FM stations, which means new equipment and updates. Before we can focus on growth, we must meet the current budget and make necessary repairs. What can you do? PRAY! We need your fervent prayers. Ask others to pray with you. Invest! Ask your Sunday School class, small group, or church to consider giving monthly. You can give an hour for $17.50, or five hours for $87.50, or even a day of broadcasting for $332.50. Thank you for doing what ever the Lord lays on your heart to do. |
