450th National Bible Day in Honduras and Nicaragua

In Honduras and Nicaragua, we celebrate Bible Day every year on the last Sunday of September. It is a national holiday recognized by the government commemorating the translation of the Bible to the Spanish language. This year has been 450 years since we’ve had the Bible translated to Spanish. 

On Bible Day, all of our churches get together in a city or village and bring signs with Bible verses on them, the kids dress up as angels and Bible characters, and they march in the streets with their Bible in hand. Our pastors set up loud speakers on pick up trucks and preach while they march. After the parade, they all come together in an open space to have a service. 

This year, Bible day was held in Choluteca, Honduras and in Yalaguina, Nicaragua. It was 90 degrees in Honduras but that didn’t stop people from coming out to celebrate their Bible! 

It was so touching to see how much the Word of God has impacted these people and it continues to impact people. That’s why we are here: to take the Word to every soul we meet because God’s Word never returns void. 

“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11
