In Honduras, currently, there are 419 confirmed cases of the virus. 31 people have died and 9 people have recovered. The epicenter of the virus is in the Northern part of Honduras. There are still many cases in the capital (Tegucigalpa) but most seem to be in the North. We have a great burden to share with you about raising funds to get food to our people in Honduras because they are all hurting over this situation. Many are without jobs and the lock-down is not letting them work and, as a result, they are running out of food. Besides this, we have gotten word that some food distributors are doubling their prices and that makes the situation even worse. However, we are rejoicing because our pastors have received food for their families! We wanted to make sure the pastors and their families were taken care of. This was made possible because you donated to our Disaster Relief Fund. Now Mario Sanchez is getting together the number of families in each church so that he can place an order for food for those families. This would not be possible without all of you that have helped us! THANK YOU SO MUCH! Providing for Our Pastors and Their FamiliesHere are just a few pictures of our pastors receiving food bags for them and their families! There are many more pictures of the Pastors on our Facebook page. Click here to see the post: https://www.facebook.com/goodsamaritanmission/posts/3362402737108640 While you are visiting our Facebook post, if you recognize any of these pastors, please leave them a word of encouragement. Even if you don’t, please encourage them anyway! We are so proud of our pastors and their faithfulness. They have shown their love for their God and for their people in spite of the circumstances of our world. Even if they are unable to have services and gatherings, they are doing anything they can to preach the Gospel. Here are a few things they are doing: - Using social media - Mounting a speaker and microphone on a car and driving through the streets preaching and giving Bibles out - Putting a speaker in the church door facing out into the community and turning up the volume so people can hear from home, etc. (There are pictures of some of this below) Make sure to look at the last few pictures of food bags being given out to the community. You’ll see the conditions that they live in. This is why we are trying to do everything we can to get food to these families. Continuing to Spread the GospelGiving Out Food Bags in the CommunityFeeding the ElderlyOur hearts are full! ❤️ Because of your donations, those from our elderly center have received food bags! Many had told us they were hungry and had no food at home. You made it possible for them to be able to eat dinner tonight! We want to thank: 1. God - because He is the author of all things good. 2. All of you for donating for these bags. 3. Our team of volunteers for making this possible. The elderly sent word to say THANK YOU and that they were so happy! Visit our Facebook post for more pictures: https://www.facebook.com/goodsamaritanmission/posts/3367808043234776 Important Information About Food BagsMany of you have sent food bags to the kids you sponsor. We now have a team of volunteers that have come together to make up these food bags and get them to your children. If you would like to order a food bag for your child, you can! However, please be aware that it might not get to your child immediately. When it is time for us to order more food, it might take a while to be delivered. Our volunteer team, however, is ready to pack up and deliver the food bags as fast as they can. On another note, some of our sponsors have asked how their $35/month is being used during this time when school has been cancelled. Similar to the US, our teachers are working with our students via internet. However, there are students that don’t have phones or internet which makes it difficult for them to continue their studies. Our teachers are doing everything they can to get in touch with those students to keep them up to date. With this being said, we are still paying all of our teachers' and employees’ salaries. Some of our employees are working from home as best they can. Therefore, we still have continued expenses in spite of things being shut down. If you have any questions, please let us know!
