Good Samaritan

Baptist Missions, Inc.
Dear Friends and Family,
I pray that you have had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  My husband, Arold, and I definitely enjoyed the holidays this year because we got to spend it with Annie for the first time!  It was sweet to be around friends and family as we celebrated the birth of Jesus and saw a new year (and a new decade) come in!

We’re also very excited because Annie turned 1 year old on January 24th!  We’re so thankful to the Lord for her.  She is more than what we ever dreamed of and she fills our life with so much joy!  We love being a Mama and Daddy to our sweet Annie!
The year 2020 is already very busy for us at Good Samaritan.  We have close to 20 groups already booked to come.  It’s exciting because every team serves the people of Honduras and Nicaragua in different ways and they are a huge blessing to the people and to us as a ministry.
If you are interested in coming on a Mission Trip, please contact us at 770-459-4058 or write us at office@goodsamaritan.ms for more information!
Tent Revival
In December, we went back to the roots of this ministry.  Pastor Mario Sanchez held a 15-day tent revival in the village of Las Delicias, Honduras.
Results from the Tent Revival
  • 8 professions of faith
  • 6 young people baptized
  • A couple, who had been living together and already had 3 kids, got saved and realized they needed to make things right with the Lord and got married at the tent revival!
Children's Christmas
For our Children's Christmas project this year, we bought roughly 12,000 toys to give out to kids in the villages in Honduras and Nicaragua who do not have sponsors. Here are a few pictures that some of our pastors sent us of the kids in their churches receiving toys.
All the decorations on this tree have the names of those who donated to our Children's Christmas project!  We even had enough funds to have Christmas Dinners for our employees and pastors and their wives.  These were held in our brand new kindergarten auditorium that we were finally able to finish in November 2019!  Thank you to those who donated to Children's Christmas.  You made all this possible!
Saved and Baptized Report for 2019

In Honduras, there were 685 salvations and 93 baptized!

In Nicaragua, there were 917 salvations and 223 baptized!

In Mexico, there were 60 salvations and 30 baptized!

In Costa Rica, there were 69 salvations and 4 baptized!

Total Saved: 1731  Total Baptized: 350

"...Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." Mark 16:15
Special Needs
The following needs are just some of many that we have.  Please help us pray over these needs that God will provide for each of them.  If you are interested in helping in any way, please let us know.
Immigration Papers for Pastor Carlos Davila and Wife
Pastor Carlos Davila is pastoring a church in Papalon, Honduras.  He is originally from Nicaragua.  He recently started having issues with his Honduras paperwork, which jeopardizes his ability to stay in the country.  Pastor Carlos is currently working on getting his and his wife's Honduras residency.  However, it is very expensive as there is a lot of legal work involved.

Pastor Carlos needs $1650 to finish everything and get his residency.  This will allow him to stay in Honduras and continue serving the people of Papalon.  Please pray that God will provide the funds!
Land in San Isidro, Honduras
One of our national pastors, Pastor Jose Zamora, is pastoring a church in El Progreso, Honduras, which is in the northern part of Honduras.  He has started a church plant in the mountains of San Isidro.  This is about 9 hours away from where we live.  We visited their church a couple of years ago.

They are holding services on someone else's land, but now have the opportunity to buy a piece of land for $2200 and this would allow them to one day build a church.
Well in Matapalo, Nicaragua
There is a village in Nicaragua called Matapalo that is in a critical situation right now.  There is no water in the village.  The people depend on wells to have water.  Our church in the village has a well but it is currently dried up.  They want to dig the well deeper to find more water.  The cost may vary depending on how deep they have to dig but the pastor thinks that the digging along with a pump should be around $2600.
(The picture below is the church of the village. It's called Noah's Ark Baptist Church.)
Ways to Get Involved
School has started in Honduras and Nicaragua!  That means we have been busy enrolling our students into school, finding sponsors for those who want to come to school and purchasing school supplies.  This is where you can help us!
This is a typical school supplies packet.  (Some items in the packets may vary per grade)  Every packet costs us around $16 and we give these out to about 1600-1700 students.  If you'd like to help provide a pack of school supplies for a student or a group of students, that would be a huge blessing!
Wow! For only $5/month, you can feed a child in Honduras!

Our Feed the Hungry program is feeding approximately 2000 kids every day with a hot meal. Before eating, the kids are taught a Bible story, they say Bible verses and they sing!  The most important part is that they are taught that it is Jesus who is sending them the food.

If God touches your heart to support this program, it would be a huge blessing to the children of Honduras and Nicaragua.
How To Help Us Pray

  • Please pray that more souls will be saved in Central America.
  • Please pray for our teachers, staff, and students as we start a new school year.
  • Please pray for our pastors in Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Mexico.  Many have had health problems. Their names and issues are listed below so you can help us pray for them specifically!
    • Patricio Joya's wife is very sick. (Nicaragua)
    • Eufemio Orozco has heart and lung problems. (Nicaragua)
    • Nicolas Gutierrez had a motorcycle accident on the way to his son's wedding. He was traveling with another son.  They had no broken bones but were bruised up. (Nicaragua)
    • Santos Matey will be having surgery soon. (Nicaragua)
    • Alejandro Martinez has throat problems. They fear it may be cancer. (Nicaragua)
    • Darquin Cruz just had surgery and has continued health problems. (Honduras)
    • Norlin Aguilar had a motorcycle accident a week after getting married.  He was traveling with his wife and they had broken bones. (Honduras)
    • Belarmino Rios has been very sick and is going to the doctor to get some tests done on his head.(Honduras)
    • Cristino Lopez has had severe laryngitis and lost his voice for a while. (Honduras)
    • Jose Santos Sanchez has very bad headaches and medicine does not help. (Honduras)
    • Paulino Benavides has had health problems but thankfully has gotten better and stronger recently. (Costa Rica)
  • Please help us pray for the Honduras and Nicaragua governments.
  • Please pray for our US office manager, Rebecca Day, and her staff because they do so much in spite of having a smaller staff.  Without them, we couldn't do what we do in Central America!
  • Please pray for Arold, Stephany and Annie as they travel to the US on deputation that God will provide safe travels and open doors to find more support for Good Samaritan.
  • And in your prayers, thank the Lord for each one of our sponsors who faithfully give and make the ministries of Good Samaritan possible!
