Dear Faithful Supporters and Friends, It is now October and Arold, Annie, and I are still in the US. We never dreamed when we came in February that we would still be here 8 months later! The good news is that the Honduras borders/airports are now open. We are looking to return sometime in early November. We’re excited to return home, but we also realize that it’s not going to be the same country that we left. However, we are anxious to go back and try to do our part in what God has called us to do. Our people need help now more than ever and that is why we are excited about Christmas this year! We hope that our Christmas programs and activities can be a breath of fresh air for many children who can’t go to school anymore or many times, leave their homes. It’s sad to think that this is the new normal for them now: a mask covering their face, keeping a distance from others, constantly afraid of being sick. We hope to bring a little bit of joy and hope this Christmas and you are a huge part of that! Join us this holiday season in making smiles (even if they are behind a mask)! If God touches your heart, please donate to our Children’s Christmas fund. If you sponsor a child, you can send them a Christmas gift. We want to reach the most children possible! We appreciate anything and everything you do for Good Samaritan and our people in Central America. Please keep our ministry in your prayers. Although we anticipate some challenges in 2021 due to lost sponsorships and dropped support, we are optimistic that God will lead and guide us through any changes we may face as a ministry. Also, please note that our US home office hours have changed: We will be open Tuesday - Friday (8 to 4:30 EST). Any messages left on Mondays will be returned the following day. Finished Projects from Previous Newsletter Roof for Pastorium in Jinotega, Nicaragua We were able to raise the $1000 needed to finish the roof for Pastor Juan Gonzales’ pastorium! COVID Disaster Relief Fund With your help, we have raised $102,402.38 so far for our Disaster Relief Fund!! This has provided food bags and medical help for our pastors, congregations, elderly, and needy families. We anticipate this to be an ongoing fundraiser while people are still being affected by the pandemic. Thank you so much to all who have donated to these projects! Current Special Needs and Projects Church Construction in El Pedernal, Nicaragua The congregation of this church was forced to tear down their church building due to cracked and damaged walls. They were afraid that it would eventually fall in on them. It was touching to see the men and women of the church picking up floor tiles and hauling them outside of the church to help with the construction. They have all worked very hard to help get their church a new building. They need a balance of $10,000 to finish the church building. Flooring for Pastorium in La Trinidad, Nicaragua Pastor Ismael Gutierrez is raising funds to put in a new floor in the pastorium. Currently, it has just a cement floor. This is a hard working church that has already put in $3000 worth of work on the pastorium and other projects. We love to see our churches work hard to complete their projects and this encourages us to help them and that in turn encourages them! They need $1700 to put in the floor of the pastorium. Sponsorships for Kids and Pastors We realize that many have been affected by the pandemic. Unfortunately, we have lost sponsorships to 70+ kids in our Opportunity program and around 20 sponsorships for our pastors. Please pray about taking on a child or a pastor for monthly support. If you are interested, please contact our office for details. Please keep all of these needs and projects in your prayers. Thank you for your love, prayers and support for Good Samaritan! In Christ,
